Rain Gauges on the Homestead
Rain Gauges are interictal part of managing your water on your homestead. You can use it simply to log the amount of rain your homestead gets each season or you do even more. Here are a few ideas:
Not Over or Under Watering your Garden- Your garden needs an inch of precipitation a week. And a rain gauge can tell you how much you are getting a week from both precipitation or sprinklers
Managing Droughts- It is wise to plant natives plants on your homestead but during a drought even these will not be getting enough water.

Calculating and Managing Runoff on Your Homestead- When deciding to add a pond or reservoir to your homestead it is best to know your rainfall amounts so you build the proper design and structure.
