Understanding the Body of Christ

In this episode you will find all three parts of the Being Part of the Body of Christ Bible Study. Inside you will find the answers to understand what is the Body of Christ, how do you Service as part of the Body of Christ, and how you are made alive inside Christ. Let’s get growing!

What is the Body of Christ?

The body of Christ is all that have accepted and believe in Jesus Christ including all Jews and Gentiles. That is you. This also means that you are in the body of Christ.

We are the Body of Christ: Ephesians 2:13-22

Romans 8:9-11 We are part of Jesus when the same spirit that raised Jesus is in us.

And remember that as a believer you also receive spirit: Romans 5:1-5

Service in the Body: Romans 12:1-8

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

How do we offer our bodies to God, to Christ?

2 says that we are to not conform to the patterns of this world. What are the patterns of this world?

This world who rules this world satan, he hates, lies, judges, spreads worry, encourages sin, brings fear, spreads mistrust, and doubt, just to name a few.

2 also says but instead to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.

What is the renewing of our mind?

It is to rest in what the Bible teaches us as well in the peace that comes from accepting that Jesus has paid the price and you are now a child of God. But it is also filling ourselves with the fruits of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23

love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control

2 also say that then and only then will we be able to test and approve what God’s will is for your lives as part of His Body of Christ because his will is perfect, pleasing, and good.

Humble Service in the Body of Christ

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

We must instead move our thoughts and actions to Jesus for that is what it means to have our minds transformed. You think of God first, you find your peace in Him and not in who you are or what you have done. You are to die of self and become part of God. God has given us each a unique faith or unique journey in following God. For it is our faith that we put into action for other and not ourselves that show God’s grace to the world.

As it is stated below!

4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

As part of the body of Christ you have a purpose to share the Gospel, to share God's love with others and the unique part of that is in the way you individual chose to follow God and put him first.

This is essentially speaking of your faith in Action Journey. To learn about how your faith can transform your mind, follow along in another bible study I have shared on Hebrews 11. Link in the description.

So remember this week, you are part of the Body of Christ and when you believe in Jesus as your Lord and savior you are going to be sent on a Journey of faith, renewal, hope, and love so stop waiting to get started and dive in the Word of God to get started. He has written a love story for you and He can’t wait for you to read it.

Made Alive In Christ: Ephesians 2:1-10

Do you feel alive? Being part of the Body of Christ you are made alive in Christ.

1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

This was your lot before you became a Believer of Jesus You followed the ways of this world. Last time you and I discussed what it is like to be pulled away from that life, to be transformed with a new mind, a mind of and for Christ.

Today I want to remind you that God is not asking works of you so that you will be saved but instead to be transformed by those works and how those works can spread Jesus’ grace to the world. Yes, it is Jesus that makes you alive not you. Your works only help Jesus continue his ministry for He has done the work so that you may receive heaven out of his Love for you.

4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6

See God has done the work through Jesus, so you have the peace of salvation. You have the peace of God that you get to share with the rest of the world.

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Jesus' action is what gives us a seat with him in the heavenly realm.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Your faith in Jesus is what gives you God’s gift and not works. But God has prepared good works for each of us to do, to move forward the gospel. But don’t worry God has made you for the work He has for you.

So this week lean into God’s gift of Grace and remember it your faith in Jesus and what Jesus did for you that gives you salvation and it is the works that God has made you for that spread the Gospel.
