Have you asked your self this question as a new believer? I know I asked myself this question too, is God asking me to cancel or change how I celebrate Christmas? Today in this podcast episode we are going to dive into the Bible and unpack this burning question many Christian asks around this time of year. Let's get growing!

Growing our relationship with our Lord can bring about many difficult questions. Growing our relationship with our Lord can bring about many difficult questions. And I know when I first believed I asked this same question during my first Holiday Season. I asked myself if God was asking me to Cancel Christmas. I asked many fellow Christians but it was not until I dived deeper into God’s word did I find some type of understanding.

In this week's podcast episode I walk you through the exact verse I found to help me and my family find a new and more fruitful way to celebrate our Lord’s Birth. I asked myself if God was asking me to Cancel Christmas. I asked many fellow Christians but it was not until I dived deeper into God’s word did I find some type of understanding.

Today in this podcast episode I walk you through the exact verse I found to help me and my family find a new and more fruitful way to celebrate our Lord’s Birth. If you would like to follow along or even find these verses for yourself I have included them below.

Remember when looking at verse in the Bible don’t just focus on the exact verse but the ones before and after so that you can gain context as to what is being said. All of the verses below are from the NIV translation.

Celebrating Special Days

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. ~Romans 14:5-6

God's Days He Asks Us To Remember

“Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the first fruits of the crops you sow in your field. Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.” ~ Exodus 23:16

Was Jesus Born on December 25th

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. ~Luke 2:1-3

Should We Remember Jesus?

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. ~1 Corinthians 11:23-26

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. ~Luke 22:19-20

Everyday is the Lord's Day

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.” “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions. ~ Mark 12:28-34

Spreading the Good News

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
